In the senior year, six credits of thesis research are required. The committee should be formed no later than October 1 preceding a May graduation or June 1 of the same calendar year, for December graduates.
Students are matched with thesis mentors during the sophomore year where possible, or in fall of the junior year. More information is available here.
Three hours basic biological or ecological science, or permission. Both usually take place in the same event, and must occur prior to the first day of final exams in the semester of graduation.
Students must assemble a three-person thesis committee, consisting of the advisor and two other committee members. All CALS seniors must take an additional 6 thesis credits across the senior year. Students who are already engaged in their honors research project.
Students who are abroad in the spring of their junior year should take it in the fall. A one credit thesis preparation course, HONis open to all juniors.

In the senior year, students complete their 6-credit thesis project under the supervision of a faculty mentor. Ucm planning to study abroad during their junior year should consult with their advisors and the Rubenstein Honors College coordinator, Associate Dean Allan Strong Allan.
Students may select a thesis committee, with their advisor’s guidance, either in the junior year or early in the senior year. At least one Committee member must be in the tbesis major department. The courses taken for thesis credits will vary by major.
Students should plan ahead carefully, because these courses may not be offered in both fall and spring semesters.
ENVS Thesis Capstone Credit Agreement
Thesis proposals will be completed vum the spring of the student’s junior year, in the appropriate research course. Students work with their individual advisor; there is no committee or outside readers. ENVS ; Junior standing.
CNHS students wishing to go abroad during the junior year may be permitted to take NH in the fall of senior year. Identify an Honors Thesis Advisor, by the first few weeks of the spring semester of the junior year. A College Honors application, formal 8-page thesis proposal, and faculty recommendation form must be submitted for approval by the CAS Honors Committee. Students thseis identify a thesis advisor through courses taken in their major department, through their HEC work, or through the curriculum of HON It is important to note a terminological item that can be confusing.
